2024 Summer Schedule

ECHO Youth Theatre (EYT) is a youth run theatre program sponsored by ECHO Players. Under the leadership of an adult mentor, youth are granted the opportunity to experience and learn about all aspects of theatre. From casting and directing, to stage management and technical aspects, members of EYT are given the chance to bring their own productions to the ECHO stage.

Vancouver Island One Act Play Festival:
January 10-14.
EYT presented “The Hallmarks of Horror” at the Vancouver Island One Act Play Festival in January and received an Honourable Mention for Best Ensemble. Congratulations also to Jack LeBlanc for winning Best Youth Performance and to Thistle Williams-Carswell for her honourable mention as Best Director. Well done everyone!

Spring Break-a-Leg Musical Theatre Camp:
March 18 - 22
. A theatre camp for ages 6-12, no experience necessary.  Daily classes in Singing, Dancing and Acting. Cost: $ 200. Classes run from 9.00 am - 3.00 pm at Qualicum Beach School of Dance, 744 Primrose, Qualicum. This year we performed “Roald Dahl’s Cinderella” - a clock stopping, show stopping musical. Many thanks to the faculty: Miranda Murphy, Allison Shaw and Hilary Whelton. 

Spring Showcase:
May 31 to June 2:
ECHO Youth will present two one act plays. The Paperbag Princess by Robert Munsch, adapted and directed by Lina Janeski, and Bad Auditions by Bad Actors, by Ian McWethy, directed by Ashera Richard. Tickets are available now under BUY TICKETS on this website.

Summer Youth Theatre Workshop: Cast and crew of the 2023 The Magic Theatre… what fun!

Summer Youth Theatre Workshop:
July 15-21:
A theatre camp for ages 8-14. Students play improv and movement games, learn voice and body work, character development, theatre terms, blocking and memorization skills. Cost: $197. During this week of fun, students are also introduced to costume, lighting, sound and set design. Our caring and accomplished staff of actors, singers, and teachers support and encourage each students’ individual needs, gifts and talents. JuMP!  (Junior Music and Performance):
July 22 - 27:
9.00 am - 3.00 daily. A one week program for ages 6-12. No experience necessary!  Cost: $ 200. Daily classes in singing, choir, dancing, acting and fun! This year we will be performing “Once Upon a Planet” on the 27th. Dress rehearsal at 10.00 am. with performance at 1.00 pm at the Village Theatre in Qualicum Beach. Teen Musical Theatre:
July 29 - August 18:
10.00 am - 4.00 pm weekdays. A three week program for ages 13-18, no experience necessary. Cost: $425. This year we will performing “Oklahoma! Youth Edition”. Music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Performances Friday, August 16th and Saturday August 17 at 7.30. Also Saturday August 17th and Sunday August 18th at 2.00 pm.
