A Visit from St. Nicholas or The Night Before Christmas

A Visit from St. Nicholas or The Night Before Christmas

By: Lowell Swortzell

Director: Mari Lyn Kelly

On Christmas Eve 1822, Clement Clark Moore’s house in NYC is not as quiet as a mouse - in fact, everyone is stirring! Having written a poem for his children as
they await the arrival of
St. Nicholas but, not wanting to be known as a poet for children, Moore burns the poem so it can never leave the house!.... or can it? Cousin Harriet enlists the children’s memory in hopes of rewriting the poem and having it published for all young people to enjoy. Two hundred years after this true event this magical poem is still popular and has influenced the traditions of Christmas as
we know them today.

The story takes some surprising turns as their tangled relationships unfold.
